Secondary Distribution System Criteria Page (Electric Optimization Wizard)

Used to specify values for the analysis variables used in optimizing the design's secondary conductors and transformers. This page is displayed only if you have chosen to size secondary facilities for peak load voltage drop conditions. Modifications to the default values are applied in the analysis of the current design and are not saved for the next design session.

SettingDescription
Load Multiplier (per unit) An additional multiplier used by some utility companies. Limited to a value between 0 and 2.00. A typical setting is 1.0.
Maximum Allowable Voltage Drop (%) The maximum allowable percentage drop in the nominal voltage of the secondary system. Limited to a value between 0 and 10.00. A typical setting for secondary systems is 5.0%.
Maximum Initial Conductor Loading (%) The percentage of the conductor load rating that is to be used as the ceiling for initial loading (to allow for future load growth). Limited to a value between 0 and 100. A typical setting for secondary facilities is 80%.
Allowable Transformer Overload (%) The percentage by which the transformer KVA rating can be safety exceeded for a limited duration. Limited to a value between 0 and 200. A typical setting is 150%.
